IC:

Character name: Teddy
Fandom: Sure Thing, an Isaac Asmiov short story...but with lots of headcanon, so I guess he's at least partly OC.
Also, you can find the story here.
Timeline: ...end of the story?
Age: A million, more or less.
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Teleportation and mind-reading, although mind-reading seems to only work well if someone is thinking at him. He can also teleport a few small objects along with him. As well as the ability to lift part of his "body" like a hinge and suck up sugar. Oh, and probably at least some way to sense his surroundings.
How would they use their abilities?: Just to get around, avoid threats, and get sustenance.
Appearance: A gray, rugged rock that fits in the palm of your hand. If he's not lifting his lower edge, you won't notice anything strange about him, except possibly the fact that his bottom part is surprisingly flat.

Background/Personality: Teddy's home planet was actually a pretty boring one. The only creatures living on it were the rockettes-they eliminated all other competition through clever use of their teleportation and telepathic abilities. As a result, most rockettes spent their time just communicating telepathically with each other, occasionally drawing sustenance from the environment.

Teddy is actually a "runt" of his species. While most rockettes are about the same size as he is at birth, they tend to grow as they mature. However, for whatever reason, Teddy didn't. While it might be hard to tell, most of the other rockettes tended to leave him alone as they grew older and larger.

Teddy was also unique among the rockettes in other ways. For one, he had an adventurous streak. Teleportation was usually only used as a form of self-defense, while Teddy actually enjoyed traveling around the planet. However, when you can teleport, you can cover plenty of ground plenty fast. Teddy was soon bored by all his planet had to offer, and so, when human explorers arrived, he secretly teleported himself to Sloan's side, hoping to be picked up. His hopes were realized.

Aboard the spaceship, there was so much to discover, although for a long time Teddy tried to be discreet about his explorations. Until the fated racing incident, most crew members just assumed they were seeing things when Teddy ended up somewhere he hadn't been. However, when his safety was potentially threatened, he revealed his abilities. Thankfully, Sloan doesn't seem to care too much.

Teddy is a bit new to having emotions in the first place. Oh, sure, he had a colony, and he cared about them, but they were pretty much indestructible. Humans are much more fragile, he's learned. So he's also learned to care about them, and worry when they get hurt, especially Sloan. He'll probably end up being just as close to any other friends he makes-he's already fond of all the humans on his ship. However, before he gets close to anyone, he'll probably act very aloof.

Teddy is also fond of pranks, and has a sweet tooth. While most members of his race merely feed out of necessity, the first time he tried powdered sugar, he found it so delicious that he now eats it regularly, even though he doesn't need that much sustenance. His prankster nature grew out of genuine accidents that he actually found amusing, which he now tries to replicate at all times. Still, he doesn't want to actually hurt anyone. Deep down, he's well and truly good.

Why should that character be in this game: You said I could play a rock.

Why do you want to continue their history here:

For applicants considering an alternate version of a character already in game, please use this as your chance to explain the key differences between your character and the one already in play:

Have you read up on how the game works?: Yup! The Guide add-on that lets everyone communicate is called FlamingFerret, and money can be made from missions, mooching off friends, or freelance work.

1st person sample: (Text/Video)
[The communicator screen now shows a rock, along with some text. Apparently, the rock is resting on a towel, a flopping Babelfish next to it.]

[The rock suddenly disappears from the screen, and there are noises like various keys being hit. After a while, more text appears. The rock also reappears in front of the vidcam.]

where is sloane

[That's better. If rocks had faces, this rock would be showing a smug face right now. So smug.]

[Suddenly, it disappears again, and the sound of more key-smashing is heard.]

also laverty
anyone
this is teddy

[Anyone nearby will see the rock teleporting rapidly over the keys, tapping them rapidly as it goes.]

3rd person sample:
This ship was large-much larger than his old one, thought Teddy as he teleported around in it in small increments. And it didn't have Sloan, or Laverty, or anyone he knew. And from what those big aliens had told him, all of those others were dead.

He had been tempted to teleport himself above one's head and drop down on it, but he figured he was still too small to do any real harm. So, instead, he was exploring the ship. Apparently he had received a room assignment, but he wasn't really paying attention to that fact right now. (He was a rockette, what would he do with a room?) It was a good thing his teleportation could bring things along, otherwise he would have had to leave the fish, towel, and Guide behind. Really, he wasn't sure what to do with those things, but it seemed...odd to just leave them behind. They were now his only possessions.

From what the aliens had told him, the fish was also necessary for translation. Of course, he didn't really need that, seeing how he had telepathy. So he supposed he'd have to just keep the fish as a pet. Could a pet have a pet? What should he name it? His rapid, small teleportations stopped as he thought. Then...well, if he had an expression, it'd be lighting up.

Of course. Sloan. It was the perfect name.

Questions?: Where's my Internet?
Did you put your characters name and fandom in the subject: Yup!
